QLD: 6 kids stop Mum calling police about Abbott, court told
A Brisbane District Court has been told that a woman who believed she saw wanted escapee
BRENDON ABBOTT didn't bother contacting police for two days.
Thirty-six year-old BRENDON JAMES ABBOTT has pleaded NOT GUILTY to one count each of armed
robbery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle on November 13, 1997.
It is alleged ABBOTT and fellow escapee JASON NIXON robbed the Palm Beach Commonwealth Bank
and escaped with $12,700 while on the run.
They had escaped from Sir David Longland Prison at Wacol on Brisbane's western outskirts on
November 5.
LURLINE MAY CURTIS, of the Gold Coast, has given evidence today that she saw ABBOTT driving
a green Commodore at a Cypress Avenue, Palm Beach, roundabout about 3pm on November 13.
Mrs CURTIS told the court there was no reason she didn't report the sighting to police
until November 15, but she did have six children at home.
The trial is continuing.
