Qld; Nicklin MP Peter Wellington supports Labor say Nats

The Queensland National Party says their candidate for Nicklin will better represent
the Sunshine Coast electorate than the incumbent, Independent PETER WELLINGTON who often
supports Labor.

The National's state director KEN CROOKE says Nambour-based solicitor WARREN GARDINER
is the party's sole nominee to contest the seat at next year's state elections.

Nominations for the seat closed today.

Mr CROOKE says Labor came to power in Queensland in 1998 with the support of Mr WELLINGTON.

He says Mr WELLINGTON may call himself an independent but the facts are he supports
the Labor Party most of the time.
